NVIDIA to Acquire Hugging Face for Approximately $11.9 Billion
On September 2, 2026, NVIDIA entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Hugging Face, the operator of a platform and community for developing, sharing, and deploying open-source models, datasets, and applications, for an approximately $11.9 billion purchase price plus an equity-based retention program of up to approximately $1.0 billion. The transaction is expected to close in the first half of 2027, subject to customary closing conditions and regulatory approvals, and NVIDIA has committed to keep Hugging Face’s platform open and continue supporting other silicon vendors.
